Arches National Park • Canyonlands National Park • Goblin Valley State Park •

Horseshoe Canyon • Bryce Canyon National Park • Zion National Park

We included some good shots of Delicate Arch on the "Southern Segment" Options pages, so we begin this section with a few photos from Goblin Valley and Horseshoe Canyon.

The program for Goblin Valley and Horseshoe Canyon is similar to the choice between the Arches National Park Delicate Arch hike and a Canyonlands National Park vehicle tour. The hike into Horseshoe Canyon to see some of the most well known pictographs in North America is the most difficult hike we recommend. If you choose to do this, or the moderately strenuous hike to Delicate Arch, you will still have time for some vehicle sightseeing afterwards, while the group that just wants to tour in the vehicle will cover a bit more ground and go to a few more places.

Horseshoe Canyon - Canyonlands National Park

Two of our favorite places, Goblin Valley State Park and Horseshoe Canyon, are more or less directly opposite each other in southern Utah.  The group which is not up to the hike into Horseshoe Canyon will go directly to Goblin Valley, which is a great deal more than a substitute. To do both, first the hike and then Goblin Valley, is a very long day. For Horseshoe hikers we may just insist that you include a stop at Goblin Valley - just think how well you'll sleep that night!

Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon is a stop along the way, but that is simply because you can't do much more than scratch the surface here unless you want to camp and take a two day back pack trip. No doubt a wonderful thing to do, but perhaps another time. Still, as stops along the way go, this one is pretty special.

Zion National Park

Zion National Park is another unscheduled day, which just means you are free to roam around on your own - separate from the group. Access to the canyon is controlled, so we will have you take advantage of the park shuttle system. We can then assist you in choosing from among the several hikes which are available along the shuttle route.
